LGBT Health

Alder Health Services is committed to meeting the unique health challenges experienced by members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population of South Central Pennsylvania. The Agency has dedicated the resources and secured the partnerships essential to improving the LGBT community's health outcomes in the following areas of concern highlighted by the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association in its companion document to Healthy People 2010:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (diseases)
  • Immunizations and Infectious Diseases
  • Health Communication and Education
  • Access to Quality Health Services
  • Mental Health and Mental Disorders
  • Substance Abuse and Tobacco
  • Cancer
In addition to Alder Health's core programming (HIV/AIDS Services, Primary Medical Care, STD Screening and Treatment and Mental Health Services), the Agency provides educational opportunities and special health promotion activities designed to help provide members of the LGBT community with the information, the skills and the resources necessary to make healthy choices and improve their overall health.

LGBT Health Forums and Workshops Schedule

Alder Health's Workshops are open to interested members of the community. An RSVP is required for participation and some sessions may be limited in both the number of participants and the gender identity of the individuals participating.
