Shaq Glover currently works for The American Cancer Society as the Community Development Manager for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Harrisburg 5K fundraising walk.
Shaq is a 2015 graduate of Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science in Communications. It was during his collegiate years that he discovered his passion for event planning and community engagement, having had the opportunity to produce MU’s first-evet LGBT+ pride festival in 2014. This event created a safe and brave space for over 400 community members. It was in that moment that he found events to be a powerful tool through which one can unite, empower, educate and entertain individuals of various identities and lived experiences. Since then, he has had the pleasure of working on events of all sizes within the hospitality industry, and is excited to bring his talent and experience to the non-profit world.
As a proud gay man, Shaq is passionate about serving the LGBT+ community and enhancing the lives of those around him. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Central PA LGBT Center. He looks forward to contributing to Alder Health by helping to create meaningful experiences for the people we serve.
In his free time, you will find him participating in community events with the Central PA Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and Harrisburg Young Professionals; and volunteering with the MCC of the Spirit “Hand Up” sidewalk pop up shop for the homeless. He also enjoys strength training, yoga, running, hiking, cooking, shopping and traveling
