Billing Specialist

Essential Responsibilities:

§  Prepare, review, and submit primary and secondary insurance claims in a timely manner.

§  Investigate rejected and denied claims and ensure accurate resubmission of corrected claims to insurance companies.

§  Establish professional relationships with insurance company representatives in order to facilitate effective claim follow up.

§  Utilize payer portals to determine patient eligibility and research claim status.

§  Document claim information in the EHR system.

§  Collect and process payments and post to the appropriate account within the EHR system.

§  Monitor claim submission processes to ensure compliance and timely reimbursement. Make recommendations for maximizing revenue.

§  Assist with updating EHR and billing procedures in response to changes in payer contracts and billing requirements.

§  Patient account management including regular communication with patients regarding their account, setting up payment plans, and investigating and resolving patient billing concerns.  

§  Collect/confirm patient demographic and insurance information and updates as needed.

§  Assist with provider credentialing as needed.

§  Work closely with other billing specialists and clinic staff and assist when available.

§  Support the agency by attending community events as a representative of Alder Health Services.

§  Additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

§  Experience providing professional billing services in a medical office.

§  Knowledge of claim formatting, submission, and processing. 

§  Experience navigating multiple web-based payer and provider portals.

§  Basic understanding of medical coding and terminology.

§  Understanding of laws and regulations in relation to medical billing.

§  Proficiency utilizing computer software including MS Office, electronic health records, billing software, and web-based applications.

§  Excellent customer service, follow-up, and verbal and written communication skills.

§  Strong organizational skills.

§  Understanding/experience with provider credentialing processes preferred.

§  Attention to detail.

 

Schedule:

Full time is Monday through Friday 8:30 – 5:00 PM.  Part time, hourly position considered as well.

Initially, all hours will be in-person, at our office in Harrisburg, PA; a hybrid schedule, combining remote and in office hours, may become available following completion of the orientation and training period.

 

Salary:

$45, 000 - $47,000, may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications
